Using VRM Microbials in Livestock Production

Animal wastes and organic matter found in livestock farms are easily contaminated with pathogens and odour producing microbes.  Fortunately they are also natural food for the beneficial microbes in our products.  These “good bugs” help break down wastes without foul odour.  Using Microbial Seeding Agent in wash-down and spray overs will reduce ammonia smell and other odours.  Organic acids produced by our beneficial microbes neutralize odour substances released by the animals and help keep pathogens at bay.  Enzymes and antioxidants produced by the “good bugs” also react with odour substances and rapidly reduce them. Manure inoculated with these good bugs then has a positive effect on crop yield and quality.  Similarly, composted manure made with Microbial Seeding Agent retains its energy and nutrient levels (less heat and gas are emitted)

Benefits

  • Odour Control

  • Reduction of pathogens

  • Reduction of Ammonia

  • Digestion of solids

  • Increased productivity

  • Compost accelerant

  • Fewer flies

  • Reduced animal stress

About The Microbials

VRM Microbial products are naturally fermented concentrates which include EM and PDM-7 microbial formulations.  These microbes are largely anaerobic in nature but allow increased free oxygen in the environment where they are working.  This is a significant benefit in waste environments.  They also promote lactic acid production and have a strong anti-oxidant effect.  These two factors help reduce the proliferation of pathogens in waste.

Simple To Use!

  1. In wash down: Dilute Microbial Seeding Agent 1:10 & spray with wash-down or over-spray/misting units.  For best results use 200ml  Microbial Seeding Agent per 5 square metres of surface sprayed.  Repeat daily until odour is controlled.  Then reduce dosing to suit maintenance of odour control.
  2. Waste Treatment: Dilute Microbial Seeding Agent 1:10 and spray weekly or as required to surface of waste ponds/ pits.
  3. Compost: When first making pile spray 1 litre Starter Culture & 1 Litre Microbial Seeding Agent  per 5 m3 of compost. Dilute at least 1:10 in water to spray.  For best results cover the pile with plastic and repeat spray once per week.  Works best on fresh manure and urine.
